My Most Unforgettable Teacher Blog Contest.
Not too long ago, I recieved the results of my performance evaluation in the last trimester. In De La Salle University, where I teach, faculty members are evaluated by thier students every term. I have always recieved good evaluations, ranging from a satisfactory to very satisfactory. I have recieved an outstanding once in the past, but when I opened my envelope this term and saw the outstanding rating, I was thrilled. But what made my heart overflow was the qualitative assessment one of my students had placed there saying “she is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in DLSU”.
I felt like I had won the lottery. In the past few months I had been feeling the weight of the economic crisis a lot and being a teacher, I have to admit I don’t have that much leeway for economic fluctuations. Many times I consider doing something else that is more financially rewarding. Receiving such heart warming feedback and affirmation made me realize that despite my economic woes, I am rich. I am made even more rich with the idea that I am making a difference.
This now leads us to the perfect contest, especially as the school year starts! It isn’t often that we get the chance to say thank you and honor the teachers that come in to our lives. With that said, The Accidental Teacher invites you to write an entry or blog post in recognition of your most unforgettable teacher. They may be your classroom teacher, a guidance counselor, church leader,
From May 15 to June 14, 2009, post an entry in your blog (blogs from any platform are welcome: self-hosted, Blogger, WP, Multiply, Friendster, Facebook, Sandbox, Tumblr…as long as I can access it!) about this unforgettable teacher of yours and share why or how they have touched your lives.
Other contest details are as follows:
1. You have free range of the length of your entry, however, keeping it within 300-500 words is strongly recommended.
2. Photos are not required but are definitely welcome.
3. Include a link to http://theaccidentalteacher.com AND to the contest page http://theaccidentalteacher.com/2009/05/my-most-unforgettable-teacher/#more-171 anywhere within the blog post.
4. Post the the URL of your contest blog entry in the comments section of this post.
5. Deadline is at 12 noon of June 14, 2009.
Entries will be judged by me and two guest judges. Originality and relevance to the theme will be the criteria for judging.
Aside from the fulfillment of giving your teacher the honor and recognition he/she deserves, the author of the best entry will receive National Bookstore gift certificates worth Php 300.00 and an Angel for Autism Baller Band. One runner up will recieve a Php 100.00 gift certificate from Starbucks and an Angel for Autism Baller Band. 3 Angel for Autism Baller Bands will also be awarded as consolation prizes.
