Kitchen Escapades

Well, well, well….of all surprises, I suddenly find myself exploring the kitchen more and more lately. Nope, not just to eat, but to actually cook :) Haha. I guess that’s one of the unexpected perks of turning vegetarian! Haha. Seriously, though, recently, a friend was posting about her own raw kitchen escapades and I saw all the yummy stuff that was popping out of her dehydrator and blender and all sorts of kitchen equipment. I may not have those, but I do have the old, trust, basic equipment: a blender, an oven toaster and a food processor. That’s gotta do for now. Maybe someday I’d own nice and pretty kitchen gadgets. I do (not-so) secretly drool over those commercial kitchen equipment at RapidsWholesale.com, after all! Well, I don’t need such large scale equipment but I sure would love those gadgets!

Maybe I should go to cooking school, yes? Gah. The things that have happened since I stopped teaching preschool, I tell ya!

We’re Off to See the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!!!

Last night while browsing in Facebook, I came across this photo in one of my dear blogger friends timeline:

photo posted with permission from Glinda :) couldn’t resist hehe :) thank you Liesl!

OMG…It’s Dorothy and the Good Witch :) Yey!  One of my most favorite stories/movies from childhood, besides the Sound of Music and Charlotte’s Web, is the Wizard of Oz. I loved it so much that my mom recorded it in Betamax for me to watch over and over and over again.

This August 18, Repertory Philippines will debut  The Wizard of Oz in Greenbelt’s OnStage theater. I can’t wait! Will definitely make time to watch this in between Yoga Teacher Training. Come what may, I will find the time to watch it! Come with me??? :)

Kindle Shopping!

One of the things I have learned to enjoy is reading with my iPad’s Kindle App. It makes me realize how far technology has gone! I remember the days when I would spend hours in the library or at the bookstore just going through all the books there. Back in the day, I was a voracious reader! I loved series like Sweet Valley High and the like, then I eventually progressed to Stephen King novels and romances like Danielle Steele. Now, I am beginning to appreciate reading through various ebook readers, be it the Kindle, the iPad, and even my android phone. What I like about ebook readers is that they automatically justify and “fix” the pages unlike how the first pdf readers used to be! I remember once having a pocket pc (kinda like a palm pilot) and some of the pdf files would be so hard to read. The other day, I spent hours in another type of  “library”…the Kindle store! Yey! I tried all those sample books and was even able to get some that were free! Yey :)

Olympic Pride

As many may know the Olympic Games are now underway. When I was younger, I was a big fan of the gymnastics events. I was monitoring it over the news lines just a few minutes ago and I feel so bad for the US gymnast who lost out on securing a slot for the individual competition! It must be heartbreaking for Jordyn Weiber to miss out on something she worked so hard for.

In other news, however, the reason I decided to write this post was because I can’t help but feel an extra bit of pride for our Philippine delegation, especially since the swimmer, Jasmine AlKhaldi, was a former student of the school I used to teach for! Amazing! I love seeing how former students have progressed and where they have ended up in their lives :) I wish her all the best! I may not have been personally her teacher, but nonetheless, this teacher is proud :)
